Shareware compression utilities
A common criticism of QuickTime Pro is that, unlike Compressor, cleaner, and Squeeze, it lacks batch capabilities–limiting it to compressing one clip at a time.
Handy shareware programs that combine the power of QuickTime Pro with the convenience of batch processing are MoviesForMyPod by Digigami for Mac OS X and Videora iPod Converter for Windows.
Both utilities were designed for iPod video creation, but their .mp4 files work well in Xprove. Just make certain to avoid .m4v format output.
Commercial compression utilities
For Mac OS X, Sorenson Squeeze is a full-featured digital video compression application. On the Windows platform, either Sorenson Squeeze or Canopus ProCoder should be able to handle your compression needs.
